Running To vs. Running From

"Running To" vs. "Running From"
There is a huge distinction between the two.
This difference will directly impact the effectiveness of your search.

Is now the right time to make your move?
That depends. + If you are in a toxic environment, now is the time to make your move. + If you are in an environment that does not value you, now is the time to make your move. + If you are in a role that does not fully challenge or engage you, now is the time to make your move. For all the reasons above, making a move at any time is usually a good decision (if you've carefully thought it through and it works for you), and with the market so hot right now, you have more leverage than you normally would. However, before you start planning your exit, take into account that there is a huge distinction in building a job search that is based on "Running To" versus "Running From."

Heading to the market and "winging it" by hoping for the best or "running away" from something that isn't working in your existing situation, without getting clear on where you are headed and want to create, won't solve the problem. It could end up being just a rinse and repeat if you are not thoughtful in this process.

To help guide your thought process, revert to the The Power of BHCs™ blog article, and this will help you get clear and set the stage for your search.

Also, here's an effective tool I use with my clients to help build further clarity.
You can download that tool right here.

It's my gift to you.

Happy New Year!
